Daniel Christinsen, Senior Director, Agile Coach at Travelers – From Decision to Development: Mapping the Knowledge Journey in Product Creation

Fundamentally, in its simplest terms, product development is basically an orchestrated set of decisions. In this presentation, I will explore the decision and knowledge nature of product development through a simplified approach to help development teams captured and sequence needed decisions and their associated questions. The content will cover the following key points:

        • The Decision and knowledge base nature of product development.
        • Key challenges for organizations around a deliberate learning mindset.
        • Mapping out decisions and required learning using a decision flow map.
        • Leveraging the decision flow map to identity and develop needed enablers.
        • Developing a learning roadmap of enablers for the development effort.

Daniel Christinsen is a true LPPD practitioner and has attended many LPPDE conferences. Throughout his career he has been engaged in several lean-agile transformation efforts at both the line-of-business and enterprise levels in leadership roles including Program Manager for New Product Development at Watlow, as a principal project manager at HGST, and Program Manager & Lean-Agile Transformation / Sensei & Coach for Western Digital.

Through these efforts he has provided leadership, coaching, and facilitation in the development and execution of the global lean-agile transformation strategies including strategy development and execution, education context development and delivery, the coaching of teams, management, and organizations on Lean-Agile methods and frameworks, and facilitation of Lean-Agile events.  In addition, also provided program management leadership of the transformation efforts including leading key projects, budget management, contract development and negations with vendors, metrics development and tracking, and development of Lean-Agile capabilities of global cross-functional teams.
