LPPDE North America 2026 - Seattle, WA

Sept 28 - Oct 1, 2026

Machinery of Innovation

LPPDE North America 2026 in Seattle, WA is approaching!

Dear participant!

Recent years have shown how important supply chains and manufacturing are to our daily lives. Even great products can fail if production has problems—delays keep customers waiting, and poor quality hurts trust. As companies rethink their strategies and focus more on manufacturing, we must look at how we create and deliver value. This year’s Lean Product & Process Development Exchange North America will explore the key role of Process Development.

Our 2026 theme, “Machinery of Innovation” asks us to think about two aspects of innovation:

  • First, we want to build product development systems that create new ideas and solutions again and again—smoothly and reliably, like a well-run machine.
  • Second, we know that every great product depends on the processes that make it real: the production systems, supply chains, factories, and machines that turn ideas into products for customers.

As we learned in our June Virtual Series: what we don’t learn during development, we suffer in manufacturing. This fall, we’ll look closely at how learning happens in product and process development. Join us in Seattle to share ideas, practical tools, and inspiration with experts and peers from around the world. Let’s build the Machinery of Innovation together.

Let’s come together to build a stronger, smarter, and more innovative future—one idea, one conversation, and one connection at a time.

We hope you’ll join us Seattle, WA, September 28 - October 1, 2026!

  • Create usable knowledge
  • The role of the chief engineer
  • Create teams of responsible experts
  • Practice set-based innovation
  • Create flow

We will also discuss the similarities and differences with Agile and how to integrate it in the system as well as how to use AI in a smart way.

Bengt Johansson has spent his entire working life at ASSA ABLOY and has seen the company grow to a global champion. Bengt has been working around 25 years with product development in different roles, production engineering, through quality management and product development. The latest 15 years Bengt spent in ASSA ABLOYs Lean Innovation program where he has been the Global Lean Innovation Manager the latest 8 years.

Peter Palmér has extensive experience in lean management in both production and product development, as well as experience of leadership in other cultures. With 18 years of experience within production, engineering and quality followed by 20 years in various management positions in product development Peter has many stories to tell. Andy Wagner + Peter Palmér, LPPDE – The Wright Brothers were the First to use LPPD

We dive in to the Product Development approach the Wright Brothers had, from where and how they started until the first successful flight. The Wright Brothers had no formal theoretical training but had a lot of experience from their bicycle repair shop with very scarce resources, but they had a common vision: To fly!

This is the story of how they detected their critical knowledge gaps, used their ingenuity to define how to test and build knowledge to ultimately achieve their goal. We will also analyze rhe Product Development system the Wright Brothers created.

Andy Wagner is a Boeing Associate Technical Fellow in Production Engineering with over 25 years of cross-functional engineering experience in aerospace manufacturing. With a resume spanning the Jeep Wrangler, GE CF34 and F404/414 Engine Families, and the Boeing 787 and 737 programs, Andy now supports Boeing Commercial Airplanes Product Development organization.

Andy has been a lifelong student of continuous improvement, practicing Six Sigma, Lean, and Theory of Constraints, and is not afraid to find hybrid solutions between them to address specific problems. He attended his first LPPDE in 2014 and presented for the first time in 2024. The connection between the Wright Brothers story and lean product development has become a personal passion project.
